The volunteer-run Bluebell Railway was the UK's first preserved standard gauge passenger railway, re-opening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1960. Since then it has developed into one of the finest tourist attractions in Sussex, yet it still remains true to its ideal of preserving for posterity a country branch line, complete with steam locomotives, coaches, goods wagons, stations and operating practices. Make your visit a trip back in time by travelling on a vintage bus or coach to your waiting steam train. Our lovingly restored vehicles are available for hire form spring through to late summer, and our current selection offers you a charming 37 seat coach from 1961, classic 1960s double deckers seating 69 and our popular open-top bus. |

Golden Arrow Pullman dining As well as operating regular passenger steam trains, the Bluebell Railway also operate the exclusive Golden Arrow Pullman dining train. This train recreates the fabulous Golden Arrow which once linked London and Paris with the style and panache which made it one of the most glamorous and famous trains in the world. It is the perfect setting for a special meal with family and friends, plus the complete train can also be hired privately for corporate groups or wedding parties. The Pullman cars date as far back as 1924 and really are the last word in opulence. Their interiors have been painstakingly restored over many years and once on board you will enjoy fine food and wine served to the standards of yesteryear. |

Travel by vintage bus or coach The Golden Arrow Pullman dining train runs most Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes from Sheffield Park station in East Sussex. In addition, special themed trains operate, including the ever popular 'Murder Mystery and Mayhem'.
